Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah commissions a new road named after veteran singer Mike Ejeagha, paid him a visit

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has chosen to honor a local legend by commissioning a new road named after veteran singer Mike Ejeagha.

During the commissioning today, September 2nd, 2024, the governor renames Obinagu Road in Abakpa Nike Enugu, as Mike Ejeagha Road as it leads to his residence.

Recall that after 41 years, veteran singer Mike Ejeagha’s classic “Kai Esi Le Onye Isi Oche” had a remarkable resurgence when content creator Brain Jotter kickstarted the viral dance challenge “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo”, a lyrics off the song.

However, the Governor felt that the commissioning would be incomplete without paying proper homage to the living legend himself, Chief Pa Mike Ejeagha, in person at his residence.

The emotional video shows the moment the governor and his aides were welcomed by the household of the veteran singer Mike Ejeagha.

Sharing the clip, the Governor wrote; “Today, we honoured a living legend, commissioning the Obinagu Road in Abakpa Nike Enugu, reconstructed by our administration earlier in the year, and renaming it as Mike Ejeagha Road, as it leads to his residence. As a government, we have also assumed sole responsibility for his upkeep.”

Reacting to the development via his official Instagram page, Brain Jotter wrote; “am very excited about this🙂🙂🙂 a very big shout out to the governor of Enugu state @pnmbah thank you sir🙏 Chukwu Gozie gi”
