Veteran Nollywood actor, Francis Duru has reportedly passed away following a brief illness, according to an announcement attributed to his family.
The family announced his death in the early hours of Friday, October 23, 2026, in a statement shared on the actor’s verified Instagram account, @francis.duru.
The statement read: “We, the family of Francis Duru, regret to announce his passing following a brief illness. We appreciate your prayers, love, and understanding. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.”
The actor’s death comes about two years after he suffered the loss of his youngest son, Ifeanyi, in 2024.
His passing marks another painful moment for the family, colleagues and fans who followed his career in the Nigerian movie industry.
