Edo Election: Governorship Candidate abandons bid, joins APC ahead of gubernatorial poll

Dennis Osahon Aikorogie, the governorship candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) for the upcoming Edo State election, has abandoned his bid and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement comes just 29 days before the September 21 election.

Aikorogie made his defection public at an APC rally held at Textile Mill Road in Benin, stating that his decision was driven by a desire to prioritize the state’s progress over personal ambitions.

He expressed confidence in the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, praising his developmental track record as a serving senator in Edo State.

Aikorogie also revealed that he is bringing over 5,000 of his supporters into the APC, believing that Okpebholo can transform the state’s fortunes if elected as governor.

He emphasized the need for action-oriented leadership, stating, “This time around, we need people who do things, not people who talk and take no action.”
