Defenders don’t want that – Alan Shearer hails Super Eagles striker

Premier League legend, Alan Shearer has hailed Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi over his performance for Nottingham Forest during the first half of their FA Cup clash against Manchester United at the City Ground on Wednesday night.

This was despite that the Nigeria International could not find the back of the net in the game that saw Forest crash out of the Emirates FA Cup.

Forest conceded at the death of the game thanks to Casemiro who headed home a Bruno Fernandes delivery.

They could not take their chances before the break with Awoniyi and Neco Williams failing to convert.

Awoniyi made a couple of attempts on goal but could not rescue his team.

Shearer noted that Awoniyi has the ability to use his pace and physicality to get past defenders.

“It’s the sort of run a defender doesn’t want from Taiwo Awoniyi – in behind.

“He’s at it and looks a threat for Forest,” the former Newcastle United frontman said during his commentary on BBC One.
