The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali has assured residents of a hitch-free Christmas celebration.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer DSP Bright Edafe.
CP Ali also ordered a massive deployment of personnel across the state to provide adequate security before, during and after the celebration to ensure the protection of all residents and the success of all activities lined up to mark the celebration.
He directed that all Area Commanders, DPOS and Tactical Commanders deploy men to all venues of the celebrations and other resort centres to avoid mischief makers showing their ugly faces and causing any form of mayhem for law-abiding citizens in the state and to ensure proper supervision of their men deployed.
DSP Edafe said, “Police Patrol teams have been drawn from Dragon Patrol, safer highways, Quick Response Squad, Rapid Response Squad, Quick Response Squad, and Eagle-Net Special Squad for this purpose.
“Traffic Control at the Head bridge has equally been taken care of as both Police personnel and traffic wardens have been deployed solely for the purpose of traffic control while the Divisional Police Officers ‘B’ and ‘C’ Divisions Asaba and the State Traffic Officer have been tasked with the responsibility of working with other security agencies to ensure free flow of traffic.
“The CP has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operation to organize Continuous ‘OPERATION SHOW OF FORCE’ with effect from Tuesday 20th, Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th December 2022 in all parts of the State and to be supervised by the eight Area Commanders with a view to ensuring a hitch-free Yuletide period.”
He urged members of the public to be law abiding and continue to support the Police in the fight against crime and criminality while assuring them of the Command’s commitment to providing security, maintenance of law and order, and protection of lives and properties among other duties.
