Amid terrorism allegations by the Department of State Services, DSS, popular rights activist, Deji Adeyanju on Wednesday said the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele did vote-buying politicians dirty.
Adeyanju explained that the anger against Emefiele was justified because his recent actions were against corrupt politicians.
The Abuja-based lawyer alleged that politicians have already stockpiled their homes with naira notes ahead of the 2023 elections.
In a chat with newsmen, Adeyanju said: “Emefiele did Nigerian vote-buying politicians dirty. They had already stockpiled their homes with Naira notes. The anger is justified.
“Only revolution can save Nigeria not the thieving politicians running in the so-called major political parties.
“February should come quickly so that politicians can return the brains of their supporters to them.”
Recall that Emefiele had stirred the hornets nest when he announced the redesigning of some denomination of the naira notes.
In October, the CBN governor announced the redesigning of N200, N500, and N1,000 notes.
He said the redesigned naira notes would take effect from December 15, 2022.
He also warned that the January 31st, 2023 deadline for the old version of the redesigned notes was sacrosanct.
Similarly, the CBN introduced another policy on the withdrawal of naira for individuals and corporate organizations.
Amid the introduction of these policies, the Department of State Services, DSS, accused Emefiele of financing terrorism and being involved in economic crime.
