Court to consider bail application for former Rivers CTC

A Rivers State High Court sitting in Sakpenwa in Tai Local Government Area will next Tuesday, consider the bail application filed by a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Sunny Bekanwa.

Bekanwa is being accused of sponsoring cultists who killed one Doctor Lucky Keena and Engineer Deyaa Dunsara in Khana LGA, an offence for which some individuals are already standing trial at the state High Court.

According to reports, Bekanwa reportedly failed in his bail application bid at the Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt and later approached the Federal High Court, before proceeding to the Rivers State High Court in Sakpenwa to apply for bail.

When the matter came up in court on Monday, the trial Judge, Justice Daketima Gabriel-Kio, after listening to the counsels representing the parties, adjourned till 19th of December, 2023 for bail application.

The Rivers State Police Command had filed information before P.C Igwe of the Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, where the accused is expected to take his plea on the sponsorship of cultists charges.
