Bauchi gov sets up transition committee for second term

Ahead of his inauguration for a second and final term in office on May 29, Bauchi State governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has set up an intra-government transition committee.

Inaugurating the committee, headed by a former deputy governor in the state, Audu Sule Katagum, Governor Mohammed said though there should not have been a need for the committee, it was set up in view of the fact that a new cabinet would emerge to run the ministries, departments and agencies in his second term.

He then pledged to consolidate on the achievements and successes recorded by his administration in the first tenure and acknowledged the massive contributions of stakeholders during the recent elections.

The governor further assured that his administration would continue to provide dividends of democracy to the people of the state with a view to improving their lives, especially those in rural areas and called on the people to support the actualisation of the new Bauchi State.

Mohammed then directed his commissioners, heads of departments and agencies as well as other appointees to begin to prepare their handover notes and also to furnish the transition committee with necessary support, contributions and information.

While congratulating members of the committee for being found worthy to serve the state, he charged them to provide useful data about the administration to prepare the incoming appointees when sworn in to lead the MDAs of the state.

According to reports, the Private Principal Secretary to the governor, Samaila Burga, will serve as the secretary of the committee, which has commissioners and local government caretaker committee chairmen as members.
