Bandits attack Zurmi town, abduct many residents

Gunmen suspected to be bandits, on Thursday, unleashed terror attack on Zurmi town, the administrative center of Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State and kidnapped yet to be identified number of people.

A resident of the community, who pleaded that his name should not be mentioned, confirmed the incident to Newsmen.

He said that the bandits invaded the town at around 10:00 pm and started shooting sporadically, leading to the abduction of many residents of the area.

“Though they didn’t kill anybody, they abducted an unidentified number of people during the operation.

“Just three days ago, they killed one person and rustled cattle,” he said.

However, all efforts to get the reaction of the State’s police spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu proved unsuccessful as he was not picking his phone calls.

Newsmen observed that kidnappings have resurfaced fully in the State.
