Atiku congratulates Bishop Peter Ebere over elevation to Cardinal

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated Catholic Bishop Peter Ebere Okpaleke on his elevation to the position of Cardinal.

Recall that Okpalaeke was, on August 27, installed as a cardinal in a consistory at the Vatican alongside other 20 bishops from across the globe.

Reacting, the former vice president, on his social media handles on Tuesday, hailed the Bishop of Ekwulobia in Anambra State, saying aside from the Catholic church in the country, the elevation also signaled the recognition of Nigeria.

He wrote, “I congratulate Bishop Peter Ebere Okpaleke on his creation as a Cardinal. I believe that this elevation is not only a recognition for the Bishop of Ekwulobia in Anambra State, the Catholic Bishops Conference, and the Catholic Church but also for Nigeria in general.

“I extend my hands of fellowship to Cardinal Okpaleke in nation-building as a leader, both now and in the future, to continue the already established tradition of inter-religious dialogue and ecumenical spirit of the Catholic Church for which our nation has benefitted from all these past years.”

Atiku further prayed for more extraordinary grace and wisdom on the Cardinal while he discharged his assignment.
