Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed Granit Xhaka and William Saliba remain major doubts for their game against Manchester City on Wednesday.

Xhaka was not available for the Gunners’ 3-3 draw at home with Southampton due to illness.

For Saliba, the Frenchman will not be available for games against Man City and Chelsea.

Arteta gave the update during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

“There’s not been a real improvement unfortunately on him so we’re still waiting,” said the Gunners’ boss.

“At the moment we don’t have him and we’re preparing for this game without him. Probably the next game [Chelsea] will come too soon as well.”

On Xhaka, he added, “Hopefully he will be able to train today. He’s still a doubt.”
