The All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign team in Cross River State has rounded up her Southern Senatorial District campaigns in Odukpani Local Government Area (LGA).

Led by the state governor, Prof Ben Ayade, the campaign team first visited the Paramount ruler, HRM, Etubom Otu Mesembe and his council of chiefs.

Addressing the traditional rulers,, Governorship candidate of the party, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu noted with excitement that he was proud to be at his local government, assuring them of massive development when elected governor.

“For somebody like me, I do not need to be remembered for embarking on white elephant projects. All I want to do is build on the existing structures so that we can generate a robust economy for our young men and women to thrive. You have always supported me, I have come to get your prayers again and I believe that our ancestors will hear your prayers, stand by us and make us emerge victorious,” Otu told the monarchs.

The traditional council gave their royal blessings and assured that Odukpani is naturally obligated to deliver APC and all her candidates.

Speaking at the campaign ground in Okoyong, Prince Otu promised to end the long standing land dispute between the people of Ikot Offiong in Cross River and their neighbouring Oku iboku in Akwa-Ibom State.

“As a local government, we had the position of deputy governor, we were hoping to see developmental projects in Odukpani, not a single project came. Instead, they sold everything and left us bare. I did not come here to campaign, I cannot come to Odukpani, my people to campaign. I understand that some people came here and deceived you, as a party, we have agreed that we will only engage on issue-based conversation, so we will not join issues with them, but you see this election, we must get it right. If you elect me as your governor, I promise you that the long standing land dispute between our Ikot offiong people and the Oku Iboku people will be completely put to an end.”

Also speaking, Governor Ben Ayade appreciated the people for coming out to receive the team.

“I can not come to your local government and beg you to vote for your own. Prince Otu is your own and a very beloved one at that. Do not allow one of your votes to miss, ensure that you deliver complete because we in the north will deliver complete,” the governor said.

The colourful event signals the end of the campaigns in the southern senatorial district.
