Akpabio, Senate Leader Opeyemi Clash in Plenary Session over Recess

A misunderstanding led to a mild exchange between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele at plenary session.

Both lawmakers are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)

The exchange which happened on Tuesday was about when to take a recess.

Senate President Akpabio had instructed Senate Leader Bamidele to propose a break, with plans to return to session later in the day.

However, when Bamidele stood up, he pleaded to continue with the next item on the agenda.

Akpabio quickly interrupted Bamidele and insisted on taking a break immediately. He called for a vote, which went in his favour.

After Bamidele refused to move the motion for recess, Akpabio then asked the new Senate Chief Whip, Senator Muhammed Tahir Monguno, to do so instead.
