Former Argentina striker, Sergio Aguero has won $8,000 bet following his country’s triumph at the 2022 World Cup.
Aguero had a pre-tournament bet on Lionel Messi winning the Golden Ball in Qatar.
He placed the wager on November 17 for his former team-mate to land a history-making second Golden Ball as the Player of the Tournament.
Aguero posted a screenshot of his betting slip on social media which showed that he put $1,001 (£823) on Messi to scoop a prestigious individual prize in the Middle East.
According to him, he “just realised” that he was due a healthy return.
Messi’s stunning performances at the World Cup, which saw him score in every knockout round and finished with a total of seven goals and three assists in total, landed Aguero $8,264 (£6, 800).
