After 8 months, Zulum appoints new media adviser to replace late spokesman

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has approved the appointment of Dauda Iliya as his official spokesperson and Special Adviser on Media.

The appointment follows the demise of Mallam Isa Gusau who until his death in February 2024 served as the spokesperson for Governor Zulum.

The governor’s approval was released in a statement on Friday by his SSA on New Media, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi.

Dauda Iliya is currently the chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Borno chapter. He hails from Kwaya-Kusar Local Government Area in the southern part of the state.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in English Linguistics from the University of Maiduguri and later obtained his master’s in Mass Communications from the same University in 2024.

He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters.

Until his appointment, Dauda Iliya worked as a reporter for federal radio corporations covering Borno State.
