Abia govt orders landlords to pull down illegal buildings at Isi Gate, others

The Abia State government has said it is dismayed by illegal trading and other business activities going on in some unapproved parts of Umuahia, for many years.

The areas according to the State government, include the busy Isi gate area, Uzuakoli road and Corporative junction.

To this end, the Umuahia Capital Development Authority (UCDA) has directed all illegal occupants of the areas to relocate to government-approved markets to do their business.

In a statement signed by Kingsley Agomuo, the General Manager of Umuahia Capital Development Authority, the Abia State government also frowned at the sprouting of illegal motor parks in the aforementioned places.

It, therefore, directed the concerned traders to relocate to approved markets while advising transporters and loaders to take their vehicles into government-approved motor parks.

Apart from these, the Abia government ordered Landlords in the affected areas who converted their residential buildings to shops, and those who attached stores to their residential buildings, to pull them down before December 1, 2023 or face the wrath of the State government.
