By Andrew Beshi, Jos

Gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in Plateau State, Chief Yohanna Margif has call on different groups who are galvanizing support for him and that of the presidential candidate of the Party, Peter Obi to synergize as political activities intensify ahead of the 2023 elections.

Margif disclosed this on Thursday at a one-day sensitization and mobilization town hall meeting in Jos, the Plateau state capital.

Margif who was represented by the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Party Engr. Jack Dung, said the call became necessary following the daily increase of support groups for Obi/Margif, recently recorded in Plateau State.

The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, who was represented by LP Deputy National Chairman, Comrade Ladi Iliya, said, “The essence of this one day mobilisation and sensitisation meeting is to mobilize and coordinate all Peter Obi support groups and other interest groups so that we will be speaking with other interest groups. We are not just doing this in Plateau State, we are going all over the country.

“We have the NLC political commission and it is supposed to oversee the activities of all the support groups so that we can move as a united and strong front.”

She explained that the programme will provide direction for all the supporters of Peter Obi ahead of the 2023 election and expressed confidence that he would be declared President at the end of the polls.

When asked about the support of Peter Obi in Northern Nigeria, she said, “Coincidentally I am a Northerner, by origin I am from Borno South and I don’t know whether you saw the Bikers in Sokoto, we saw some in Zamfara and these states are in the North.

“It is not just Peter Obi that is contesting, there are alot of people supporting him that don’t want to come out for fear of their lives and other harm. But deep down, this problem is eating everybody; the challenges doesn’t know whether you are from the North or South.

“That is why Peter Obi said he is not a candidate for Igbos, he is a Nigerian and because of that he has the right to run for political position as President of Nigeria as he need the support of everybody because we all go to the same market.” She stated.

LP North Central Vice Chairman, Mr Adi Shirsha Adi told the groups to educate the people about the party logo.

Adi said that many people were yet to know that LP logo is a symbol of father, mother and child.

According to him, the party has the capacity to entrench the good governance that elude Nigeria for many years.

Plateau NLC Chairman, Mr Eugene Manji said that labour unions were supporting LP with hope that it would address issues affecting workers and the generality of Nigerians.

Manji urged those present to convince other people to join the movement which he believe would improve the standard of living of Nigerians.

Plateau LP Chairman, Mrs Grace Zamafara thanked the people for the supporting the party thus far.

There were good will messages from the Member representing Langtang North-North in the State House of Assembly Hon. Daniel Nambolistic, Coodinator of the Yahanna Margif/ Perter Obi campaign organization in Plateau Central Zone, Mr Bitrus Lekshak, as well as other stakeholders of the Party who grace the meeting
