12 states have enacted tax reforms law – Taiwo Oyede

‎Minister of State for Finance designate, Taiwo Oyedele, has said at least 12 sates have enacted the Tax Harmonisation Law, a key component of the Federal Government’s tax reform initiatives,


‎Oyedele made this known on Wednesday during a graduation ceremony for the MTN Foundation’s Young Innovators and Entrepreneurs Training Initiative held at the Continental Hotel in Abuja.


‎He noted that an additional 13 states have already tabled the law before their State Houses of Assembly for consideration, while others are at various stages of implementation.


‎He highlighted the overarching goals of President Tinubu’s tax reforms: modernizing Nigeria’s fiscal framework to enable businesses to thrive, protect vulnerable populations, and drive economic transformation.


‎News reports that Nigeria’s 2026 tax reforms, signed in June 2025, introduce a comprehensive overhaul, featuring a ₦800,000 annual tax-free threshold for individuals, a 20% rent deduction, and 0% VAT on essentials
