Unaccessible Terrain Hinders our Operations In The Northwest Says GOC

The general officer Commanding 8 Division, Sokoto Maj General Uwem Bassey and Commander Operation Hadarin Daji says unaccessible terrain and poor communication system are factors responsible for some pocket attack on some remote Communities by the bandits in the Northwest region of the country.

General Uwem stated this on Sunday at the interdenominational service at Saint Bathlomew Catholic Church Giginya Barrack, Sokoto as part of the activities to mark this year Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL).

He noted that some of these villages where bandits operate are remote, without an access road and poor communication system.

“At times you will hear that terrorists have kill so and so in Zamfara , Katsina or Sokoto you will wonder whether military are doing enough but you have to understand that some of these villages don’t have access road for military vehicles to pass through, the terrorists take advantage of using motorcycles to penetrate he stated.

He further explained that Nigerian Army under the leadership of Lt General Farouk Yahaya is focused and capable of defending Nigeria territories against internal and external aggression.

He maintained that recently scores of insurgents have surrendered to Nigeria Army in the North East stressing that very soon same would replicate in the Northwest.

He disclosed that with resilence of the soldiers, officers of the command , war against terrorists in the region would soon be won.

He encourage the soldiers and the officers to remain discipline and loyal to constituted authority stressing that their own time will come when they also will be promoted to the higher rank and others will also take order from them.

He enjoined the villagers to provide Army with intelligent information to enable them know the hideout of terrorists in their communities.

” Let me tell you the people are expecting much from us and we have no reason to disappoint them , our duty is to protect them and by God’s grace we are equal to the task he added.

He implored the general public to continue to pray for the troops in the war front stressing that victory is already on sight.

On his part the Acting chaplain Protestant Church Lt Col (very Rev ) Eleni Clement took time to pray for officers and soldiers especially those in the war front.

Rev Eleni urged them to be united despite their ethnic and religious inclination saying without unity they cannot be able to fight the terrorists.

He maintained that bullets from the enemies doesn’t know tribe or religion.
