Tunji-Ojo Bags ‘Minister Of The Year’ Award, Dedicates Honour To Interior Ministry Personnel

The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has been honoured with the ‘Minister of the Year’ Award by Democracy Newsline Newspaper for his outstanding performance and far-reaching reforms in Nigeria’s interior sector.

Tunji-Ojo received the award at the 16th anniversary ceremony of the newspaper held in Abuja, where the organisers cited his commitment to transparency, innovation and improved service delivery across agencies under the Ministry of Interior.

In his acceptance speech, delivered by the Deputy Director of the Federal Ministry of Interior, Mrs Adogeri Beloved, the minister described the recognition as both humbling and motivating.

He dedicated the award to officers and men of the ministry and its agencies, acknowledging their sacrifices and professionalism in advancing the administration’s reform agenda.

“I dedicate this honour to the gallant officers and men of the Ministry of Interior and its agencies. This award belongs to them. Their sacrifice, dedication, and professionalism are what have made the reforms we are undertaking possible,” he said.

Tunji-Ojo said the recognition would further spur the ministry to deepen ongoing reforms in immigration, correctional services, civil defence and fire service, with a view to strengthening national security and improving public safety.

He also commended Democracy Newsline Newspaper for its commitment to credible journalism and for consistently recognising individuals and institutions contributing to democratic values and good governance in Nigeria.

The organisers said the award was in recognition of the minister’s bold initiatives in the interior sector, including technology-driven passport reforms, efforts to decongest correctional centres and improved welfare for personnel.

The honour, they added, reflected the impact of the minister’s reforms in repositioning the ministry’s agencies for more efficient and responsive service delivery.
