Trouble for Julius Berger as Senate Issues Arrest Warrant Against Company Managers

The decision of the senate follows a motion raised by the senator representing Enugu West Senatorial district, Osita Ngwu.

The lawmaker in his motion expressed concern over the failure of the company to appear before the Senate Committee on Works following its investigation on several failed jobs.

Ngwu had informed the senate that the construction company has numerous failed contracts scattered all over the country.

He also called for an investigation into the activities of the company with regard to job delivery in Nigeria.

The lawmaker said: “If a committee summons any person or entity to come for a committee hearing and that entity does not send a representative or do not appear in any way, the normal thing is to report to the presiding officer and then warrants will be issued.”

In his support, the senator representing Bauchi Central, Abdul Ningi said the senate has the right to summon any individual or company in line with the provisions of the Constitution and the Senate Rules.

Following the submissions of the lawmakers which was however opposed to by Adams Oshiomhole, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio ordered an arrest warrant on the management of Julius Berger.
