The NHGSFP has achieved tremendous success in kogi state- state focal person

…as RECEF trains CSOs, NGOs in Kogi

The Kogi state Focal Person for the National Social Investment Programmes (N-SIP), Suleiman Onyekehi, on Monday said that the Social Intervention programmes of the federal government, particularly, the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme, (NHGSFP), has achieved a tremendous success in increase school enrolments in the state.

Onyekehi, who doubles as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Projects, said 177,000 out of the total 258,000 enrolled pupils from Primary 1 to 3, were currently being fed, and over 3000 cooks recruited in the state.

Onyekehi who was represented by Yetunde Shaibu, the programme officer in the kogi N-SIP office, at the training of civil Society organization and Non Governmental Organization, (CSO/NGO), facilitated by Renaissance Care and Empowerment Foundation, (RECEF), called on participants to take the training very seriously.

He noted that the Federal government and the kogi state government are committed to the success of the programme because of it’s numerous benefits to the people, adding that the feeding programme is nutritionally beneficial to the pupils.

In his address to participants, Abubakar Muhammed, the desk officer of NHGSFP, said the school feeding programme started in 2019 in kogi state as one of the pilot states and was implemented in 18 out of the 21 Local Governments in the state with 40 cooks.

He however said that the school feeding programme as at today, (2022), is being implemented in the 21 LGAs of the state with 3000 cooks.

The Executive Director of Renaissance Care and Empowerment Foundation, (RECEF), Idris Ozovehe Muraina, charged participants to carry out their assignment with diligence and in the most transparent manner.

According to him, as independent monitors, the federal government holds them in very high esteem, saying that they must not do otherwise.

The step down training on National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP), held on Monday 18th July 2022 at LUCAF office along Ganaja Village was Facilitated by Renaissance Care and Empowerment Foundation, (RECEF).
