Pro-democracy group cautious APC against internal wrangling, ahead of May 29

A Pro-democracy group- the Natives, has cautioned the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against internal wranglings, ahead of the May 29 takeover of the president-elect Sen. Bola Tinubu.
Mr Olalekan Edwards, the supreme leader of the group said this when he led a team on a visit to Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, the APC National Chairman in Abuja on Thursday.
Edwards also urged the leadership to ensure that only capable hands were appointed into key positions by the incoming administration.
He said that the visit was to reaffirm the group’s confidence in the party’s choice of Tinubu/Shettima presidential ticket.
He said the visit was also to thank the party’s leadership for giving them a marketable product that speaks for itself in the person of Tinubu.

“As voters, we have come to thank God for the victory, celebrate with the party, its NWC and also the dynamic and indefatigable chairman,”he said.
Edwards added that Adamu’s role in harmonising the party, governors, the government, the candidates, the disgruntled, the support groups to achieve this feat was worthy of study.

He expressed gratitude to the Progressives Governors Forum for the party’s victory at the polls, saying that Tinubu’s emergence as President-elect was a victory for all tribes and tongues in the country.

He called on the party’s leadership to avoid internal wrangling, adding that it should ensure engagement of the right hands, celebrate and reward the unparalleled role of youths and women and disabled of all tribes.

Edwards added that Tinubu was a trailblaser, a pathfinder and a tested team player, who had mastered the act of negotiation in politics.

He said the former two-term Lagos State governor, had what it took to keep the nation together as well as inspire it to prosperity.

“He is a treasure to our nation that the whole tribes and tongues in Nigeria are eager to experience his magical and innovative ways of governance come May 29.

“Don’t be deceived, even the accusers of APC cannot but acknowledge that Lagos is safer than their states and economically viable.

“Hence they brag about Lagos to their families in the villages that have never visited,” he said.
Speaking, Adamu, called for continued support for the incoming government of Sen. Bola Tinubu, the President-elect.
“Today, through your concerted efforts, in collaborating with us and voting for us, we have a brand new president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the person of Sen. Bola Tinubu.

“He took time off because of the rigors of the presidential campaigns. We thank God he is back. I was with him with members of National Working Committee (NWC).

“He is hail and hearty. He is ready to work. He is rejuvenated and ready work.

“We want your continued support for us and the incoming government. We want your support to ensuring that our transition is smooth and peaceful,” Adamu said.

He said the party’s desire was for President Muhammadu Buhari to hand over power safely on May 29, because he led it to victory.
“One way we can pay Buhari is to ensure that he has a very peaceful exit from government, our loyalty to Buhari should not be extinguished on May 29.
“Everyone of us should be more anxious to ensuring that Tinubu succeeds as president of the country. He will take off on May 29 by the grace of God.
“The support of everyone of you is required. As you were in the campaigns so you will be during the governance. It is my hope that God in his infinite mercy and wisdom will protect all of us,” Adamu said.
