Police react to Jigawa gas explosion

Police in Jigawa State said the gas explosion that occurred in the Babura Local Government Area of the state injured seven persons and destroyed 17 shops and five houses.

Reported that a gas explosion had injured people and destroyed houses and shops in Babura on Monday night.

Spokesman of the command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said the incident happened yesterday night when Customs officers on border drill were pursuing the vehicle laden with the smuggled LNG from the Niger Republic to Hadejia.

He explained that on reaching the double junction in Babura town, the gas cylinders exploded.

Shiisu said seven people were injured as a result, and 17 shops and five houses were damaged.

He said the victims were rushed to the Gumel General Hospital for medical attention.
