Oyo APC aspirants withdraw suits over fallout of primaries

Some aspirants in Oyo State who dragged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to court have withdrawn the cases.

Recall that some aspirants who indicated interest to contest on the platform of the party in 2023 had earlier dragged the party to court.

The aspirants felt unsatisfied with the outcome of the primary election of the party conducted few weeks ago.

A source told newsmen on Monday that some of the aspirants among whom is a Federal Commissioner at the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission, Hon. Bimbo Kolade have withdrawn the cases in the court.

Kolade is a former commissioner during the administration of the immediate past governor, late Abiola Ajimobi. He contested the APC primary in Oyo Central senatorial district.

A former commissioner for Works, Dr. Yunus Akintunde was declared as the winner of Oyo Central senatorial district primary election, which made Kolade to initiate a law suit.

Gubernatorial candidate of the party, Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin confirmed the withdrawal of the court cases by some of the aspirants of the party.

Folarin in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday, pledged to ensure that all interests in the party were accommodated, compensated and supported.

He then commended party leaders who facilitated the withdrawal of cases pending in courts.

Folarin said, “All that happened during and after the primary elections are inevitable reality of any democratic process which would always produce mandate custodians on one hand and future winners on the other hand.

“Since every athlete can’t win a sprint or marathon race, all members should be convinced that their interests will be accommodated and prioritised.

“All party members have a part to play in establishing a responsive leadership that would promote economic growth as they owe the state’s inhabitants the opportunity of experiencing good governance after the 2023 polls”.
