Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has directed the immediate relocation of Umuahia campus of Abia State University back to the Uturu main campus of the institution.
This development was made known by Okey Kanu, the State’s Commissioner for Information when he briefed journalists at Government House Umuahia, on the outcome of this week’s executive council meeting presided over by Governor Otti.
According to the commissioner, this is part of the recommendations of the Visitation Panel which submitted its reports.
“Except for the Faculty of Law that will be undergoing accreditation, the rest of of the departments and facilities in Umuahia should go back.
“Once they are through with the accreditation process, they will join suit and relocate back to Uturu,” Kanu said.
According to the state government, there is need for consolidated campuses in one particular location to enhance the studies of the university students.
Abia State Government further said that it will hold an interdenominational service in honour of her first democratically elected Governor, Ogbonnaya Onu.
