Ondo Amotekun deploys 100 operatives to aid rescue of abducted Ekiti pupils, teachers

Following the abduction of five pupils and four staff members of the Apostolic Faith Group of Schools in Ekiti State, the Ondo State Command of the Amotekun Corps has deployed 100 personnel to the state in a bid to aid the release of the hostages.

Ondo State Amotekun Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this
while parading about 31 suspected criminals at the headquarters of the Corps at Alagbaka, in Akure.

The Ondo Amotekun operatives, who will be complementing the efforts of their counterparts in Ekiti State, were drafted to the neighbouring state on the order of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

On Monday, gunmen killed two monarchs in Ekiti State, the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Samuel Olatunji, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti.

On the same day, six pupils, three teachers and a driver of the Apostolic Faith Nursery/Primary School, were also abducted.

Adeleye disclosed that Aiyedatiwa ordered that the Ondo Amotekun operatives should assist in tracking and arresting the kidnappers.

He equally revealed that some people have been arrested during the combing of Ekiti forests, adding that investigation is ongoing while the search for the pupils and the other kidnapped persons continues.

The Amotekun commander disclosed that the 24-hour undertaken by the Corps, with the collaboration of other security agencies in the state, has helped in checking criminal activities in the state.
