Oluyole Federal Constituency election declared inconclusive

The Oluyole Federal Constituency election in Oyo State has been declared inconclusive, report.

The election was conducted in the federal constituency on Saturday.

The result was declared inconclusive following some irregularities.

It was learnt that there were reports of violence and destruction of ballot papers in about eight polling units in the federal constituency.

The Returning Officer in the election declared the result inconclusive at Idi-Ayunre, headquarters of Oluyole Local Government, on Sunday.

The returning officer said that the difference in the results between the current occupant, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe of All Progressives Congress and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Abdulmojeed Olawale Mogbonjubola, was not up to the number of registered voters in the cancelled eight polling units.

“The APC candidate polled 9, 849 while the APC polled 9, 028 leaving just 821 votes difference whereas the number of PVC collected in the canceled polling units of Oluyole Federal Constituency is more than the difference,” he said.

He said the total PVCs collected in the affected eight units are 6,537.

As of the time of filing this report on Monday, the new date for the rerun had not been announced.
