Northern governors urge Buhari govt to implement Agric project, L-PRES

The nineteen Northern States Governors have called on the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to implement the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) to boost agriculture in the country.

The governors made the call at a meeting presided by its Chairman and Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, held with Commissioners of Livestock, Agriculture, and Finance as well as other stakeholders from the 19 northern states and Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.

The Northern States Governors also agreed on the need for all the 19 states to harmonize their activities and come up with a common document that would make the scheme successful.

They noted that the states could benefit from the L-PRES if implemented especially on how to ensure the environment is secured to allow farmers cultivate crops.
