Ngige commends AUPCTRE, says union’s leadership focused

The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige has commended the leadership of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE).

Ngige lauded the union over what he described as its focused leadership attributes.

The minister gave the commendation at the 6th Quadrennial States Delegates Conference of the union on Wednesday, in Abuja.

He was represented at the event by the Federal Capital Territory Controller of Labour and productivity, Mrs Titilayo Ayemoba.

Ngige urged the new leadership to emulate their predecessors so as to keep the union’s flag flying high.

He advised members of AUPCTRE to put the interest and future of the union first by electing those with a high sense of responsibility, accountability and transparency, and most importantly, those who are goal oriented.

Speaking earlier, Mr Aliyu Maradun, Chairperson AUPCTRE, FCT Council, expressed gratitude to God and also members of the union for their unflinching support.

Maradun urged the delegates in session to come up with a very strong position that would be presented to the Federal Government on the spate of insecurity such as banditry, kidnappings, killings, unemployment, inflation and many others.

He pledged the resolution of FCT council under his leadership to continue with the legacies and ideals of the founding fathers of the union, especially the successes recorded in all areas of collective struggles.

The conference had in attendance labour leaders including Mr Benjamin Anthony, National President AUPCTRE, Mr Abubakar Yaqub, Chairperson, Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) FCT, AUPCTRE chairmen and secretaries from more than 65 ministries, departments and agencies.
