Kogi to Adopt Economic, Agric Policies to Ease Current Challenges, Says Auditor-General for LG

Kogi State government said it has evolved systematic and workable approaches to solve emerging economic issues affecting livelihood amongst the people of the state.

This was disclosed weekend by the state Auditor-General for Local Government, Honourable Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege while addressing group of political stakeholders, opinion leaders, traditional rulers and religious leaders who paid him a courtesy visit at his country home in Okaito, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The Auditor-General for Local Government who revealed that the proposed economic intervention programme would be executed in phases, said the recent distribution of trucks of rice was just to provide immediate and short-term relief to address the effects of soaring food prices caused by inflation.

“Our Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has been very proactive in taking realistic steps to stem the current tides of economic hardship in the state. To address food shortage, he has met recognized farmers’ association where modalities to distribute subsidized farm inputs was discussed. It is hopeful that in the shortest possible time, Kogi State would be more sufficient in food production”, he said.

Hon. Yakubu who was on a first visit to his home town since he was appointed as Auditor-General for Local Government urged the youths to shun restiveness, rebellion and other social vices, added that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s government adopts an open door policy to accept constructive ideas that would lead to sustenance of the development of the state.

Stakeholders while appreciating Governor Ododo for the steps taken so far in addressing the current hardship in the state, enjoined the government to sustain the recent development in the area of workers salary since the inception of his administration and also appreciated the state government for the quick intervention they have made in rehabilitating the state of their road. They noted that if the current improvement in the payment of local government staff is sustained, the hardship at the grassroot would be partially ameliorated within short period of time.
