Kogi JNI promises synergy with RECEF to promote increase women participation in politics, reduce violence against women

An Islamic organization, Jama’atu Nasril Islam, (JNI), Kogi State chapter, has promised to work with
Renaissance Care and Empowerment Foundation (RECEF),
to ensure increase women participation in politics come 2023

The chairman of JNI Ambassador Usman Bello, made this commitment on Monday when RECEF team paid him and his group an Advocacy visit on how to enhance Women Participation in Election as Voice for Development Campaign and to reduce reported case of violence against women in elections.

The JNI group endorsed the Women’s Voice for Development (V4D) campaign and assured RECEF of mainstreaming it to her engagement with Muslim ummah across the state.

This according to Ambassador Bello is to ensure peaceful elections come 2023 in Kogi State.

Amb. Usman Bello appreciated the visit from the campaign team.

Earlier, the Executive Director of RECEF, Ambassador Idris Ozovehe Muraina, said the visit was aimed at advocating for peaceful elections come 2023 in Kogi State.

The Executive Director presented a copy of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law, 2022 to the to the JNI chairman, Ambassador Bello, to serve as a guide.

The programme manager of the Women’s Voice for Development (V4D) Campaign Mr. Ikechukwu Mpama gave a rundown of the project objectives, which includes;

Reducing the reported incidences of electoral violence/violence against women in politics during the General Elections in Kogi State by March 2023 and as well as increase the participation of women voters over the 2019 Kogi State Gubernatorial election voter figures by the end of the 2023 General Elections.
