The Kogi State House of Assembly has resolved to commend the director-general and chief executive officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, for his contributions to the development of the state and the country.
The commendation followed a motion moved by Hon Suleiman Abdulrazak, who specifically cited Abdullahi’s role in facilitating the establishment of the Barefoot Renewable Energy College at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara.
Abdulrazak described the ECN boss as a nation-builder whose leadership, patriotism and commitment to community development had yielded tangible benefits to Kogi State.
The lawmaker urged the House to formally recognise Abdullahi’s vision and efforts in advancing renewable energy development and education.
Meanwhile, the Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Dr Saliu Muhammed Ibn Ali as a permanent member of the Kogi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
The confirmation followed his screening by the House at the Assembly Complex in Lokoja.
Lawmakers described Ibn Ali as a disciplined and experienced public servant capable of contributing to the improvement of basic education in the state.
The Speaker of the House and chairman of the screening committee, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf, charged him to deploy his experience to advance SUBEB’s mandate.
Yusuf urged the new board member to remain transparent, diligent and committed in the discharge of his responsibilities.
In his response, Ibn Ali thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the confidence reposed in him and the lawmakers for his confirmation.
He pledged to justify the confidence by working diligently to strengthen basic education delivery across the state.
