Khan Selim Rahman, Founder President of the Bangladesh Central Press Club (BCPC) and Editor of the national daily Matrijagat, has been elected as a member of the Central Committee of the Pakistan Journalist Association (PJA) and appointed Vice President of its Bangladesh Chapter.

The Pakistan Journalist Association is an international body comprising professional journalists from different countries, working to promote cooperation, news exchange, and independent journalism across borders.

Media professionals have described Rahman’s election as a notable milestone in international journalism, attributing it to his decades of experience, strong organizational leadership, and commitment to impartial and objective reporting.

His appointment was officially announced on January 5, 2026, through a press release and a post on the Pakistan Journalist Association’s official Facebook page. The statement commended his professional contributions, leadership qualities, and active role in advancing international journalism.

According to the PJA, Rahman was entrusted with the responsibility as part of its efforts to strengthen the organization with experienced, skilled, and ethical leadership capable of advancing its goals. He was named a Central Committee member and Senior Vice President of the Bangladesh Chapter.

Reacting to the development, Rahman expressed gratitude to the PJA leadership.

“I sincerely thank the Chairman, Secretary General, and all honorable officials of the organization for electing me as a Central Committee member of the Pakistan Journalist Association and Vice President of its Bangladesh Chapter,” he said.

He pledged to discharge his duties with integrity and professionalism, adding that he remains committed to promoting truthful journalism, protecting journalists’ rights, and enhancing the global standing of Bangladeshi journalists.

Beyond his editorial work, Rahman is widely recognized as a seasoned media organizer. Under his leadership, the Bangladesh Central Press Club has grown into a structured and effective platform for journalists, focusing on professional development, training, unity, and the protection of press freedom.

As Editor of Matrijagat, he is known for practicing fearless, responsible journalism centered on public interest, with a focus on social issues, human rights, democracy, development, and the voices of ordinary citizens.

Journalist associations, media practitioners, civil society groups, and well-wishers across Bangladesh have congratulated Rahman on his international appointment, expressing optimism that the PJA Bangladesh Chapter will become more vibrant under his leadership.

Analysts say the appointment is a source of pride for Bangladesh’s media sector, reflecting both individual achievement and the collective progress of the country’s journalism community.
