Kebbi schoolgirls: Gov Idris vows swift rescue of abducted students

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has assured parents of the abducted students of Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, that his administration is fully committed to rescuing their children.

The governor gave the assurance on Monday while speaking to journalists in Maga shortly after meeting security agencies, traditional rulers, parents and other stakeholders following the incident.

This is contained in a statement signed by Yahaya Sarki, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, on 17 November 2025.

Governor Idris described the abduction as deeply unfortunate and condemned the killing of the school’s Vice Principal during the attack.

He told parents that security operatives were working tirelessly to secure the release of the 25 schoolgirls taken by armed bandits.

“The unfortunate incident has already occurred, and we came to see things for ourselves. We met with the parents whose children were abducted to give them confidence and to assure them that we will do everything possible to ensure the safe rescue of their children,” he said.

The governor said his visit was meant to assess the situation firsthand, console affected families and boost public confidence.

“We have also urged them to remain confident, as the security agencies are doing the needful. That is the essence of coming to Maga, to support our people, give them encouragement, and strengthen their hope,” he added.

Armed bandits attacked Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area on Monday, abducting 25 students and killing the school’s Vice Principal.
