Kebbi Journalist Escapes Assassination

A Kebbi based journalist, Maiakwai Abubakar Shatima escaped death by the whiskers when suspected assassins attacked him in Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi state.

Eyewitness said Shatima was attacked at GRA Behind Presidential lodge around 11:30pm when he was coming from the residence of the Spokesman of the opposition PDP In the state.

He was said to have been attacked by 6 men, who riding on 3 motorcycles and a car, blocked his vehicle and attempted to forcefully pulled him out.

Our source said in a bid to escape, Shatima rammed his vehicles into one of the motcycles with DANMAKKA written on it. He was however overpowered by the assasssins who forcefully take him out of his car and wisked him away.

It was gathered that the assassins abducted Shatima in their car with registration number BRK 270 AG, to Dukku bridge in the outskirts of Birnin Kebbi.

Narrating his near-death experience, Shatima confirmed that he was beaten by the assassins who after beating him thoroughly, assumed he was dead and abandoned him.

Continuing, Shatima said he was rescued by an okada rider who took to the hospital and later handed him over to the police. “I was treated at the sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital and later taken to a safe place where I am currently receiving treatment”

Findjgs revealed that although the assassins escaped, the Car Was traced to be of one SABIRU while the abandoned motorcycle was identified as by belonging to One Haruna DanMakka, said to be errand boys of a high ranking Kebbi state government official.
