Alex Iwobi says the Super Eagles are firmly focused on securing a place at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’l voire.
The Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be hosted by Qatar.
Iwobi and his teammates will begin their quest for a place in Cote d’Ivoire 2023 with an home game against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone on Thursday (today).
The Everton winger admitted that missing out on the World Cup is disappointing and they can’t afford not to qualify for another big tournament.
“I know majority of the fans are still disappointed with the fact that we are not going to be in Qatar for the World Cup. That’s enough motivation for us to ensure we qualify for the next AFCON.
“Things are going well for us under the new coach even though we lost to Mexico and Ecuador.
“I have no doubt we will qualify for AFCON 2023. We can’t afford to disappoint Nigerians again,” he said.
