Imam urges muslims to be spiritually sound, assist needy – RAMADAN

An Islamic scholar, Dr Bashir Aliyu-Umar , has advised adherents of the Islamic faith to be spiritually sound and help the less privileged in the society.

Aliyu-Umar, who is the Chief Imam of Al-Furqan mosque in Nasarawa GRA, Kano, gave the advice while delivering a Friday sermon in Kano.

The Imam enjoined muslims to give their time to fervent prayers during the holy month of Ramadan.

“As muslims, we should use this Ramadan period to rededicate ourselves to Islam and strive to help the less-privileged in the society.

“Let us assist one another, it’s one of the principles of Ramadan let us also make supplications to Allah.

“Muslims should not just abstain from eating and drinking during Ramadan, they must ensure they do good deeds and shun all vices,’’ he said.

He advised muslims to read the Qur’an extensively and meditate on its teachings during the period of Ramadan to experience the desired change in their lives and society at large.

The Islamic scholar described Ramadan as a period of forgiveness and blessing and urged muslims to take advantage of the holy month to supplicate to Allah.
