I never forced my wife to become Muslim – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has stated that he never forced his wife to convert to Islam.

Tinubu made this known while speaking at the funeral service for the mother of the All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, in Jos, Plateau State.

The President noted that he was born a Muslim and married a pastor, the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu.

Hate is not an option for us,” Tinubu said, recounting how he inherited Islam from his parents but never attempted to convert his wife, who prays for him without conflict.

“I believe in the freedom of religion; we are praying to the same God,” he added.

Tinubu further urged Nigerians to prioritise love for one another over religious differences.

His remarks come at a time when religious tension and violence have become major issues in the country.
