Hisbah operatives disrupt alleged gay marriage in Kano

The Kano State Hisbah Board has disrupted a planned gay marriage at the popular event centre in Kano Metropolitan.

The Hisbah Board Commander, General Sheikh Haruna Ibn Sina, confirmed this in a statement issued to newsmen.

He said the planned marriage is between Abba and Mujahid who was tagged as bride and groom.

Ibn Sina explained that the Hisba guards disrupted the marriage following a report it received from good samaritans.

He said 19 youths were arrested who had gathered to witness the wedding of two suspected homosexuals.

“Fifteen women and four males who were at the centre to serve as witnesses for the planned same-sex marriage were arrested.”

Ibn Sina explained that the duo tagged as bride and groom, Abba and Mujahid escaped immediately after the arrival of the Hisbah personnel at the wedding venue.

He noted that the board is working to arrest the duo and other people who attended the event.

The Hisba commandant said the arrested suspects will be handed over to the police for further investigation.
