The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has classified the use of “money bouquets” as a form of naira abuse, adding it to offences such as spraying, squeezing, selling, and defacing banknotes.
Under the CBN Act, anyone caught tampering with the currency faces a minimum of six months in prison or a fine of at least ₦50,000.
Nigerians have been urged to protect the naira and report violations as enforcement agencies step up actions against offenders nationwide.
This comes as Valentine’s Day comes nearer as the highly anticipated 2026 Valentine’s Day comes up on February 14th, 2026.
Social media reactions pour in as CBN reportedly bans flower cash-bouquets ahead of Valentine’s day, see below;
thefoodnetworknig2 commented, “A win for singles… One down! When are they banning pararan? No peace for the wicked.”
