Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, could be set to leave the club after they were charged with breaking numerous financial rules on Monday.
The Premier League have charged City for breaching financial regulations from September 2009 up until the 2017/2018 season.
The matter has now been referred to an independent commission.
If City are guilty, they face a range of potential sanctions including a points deduction or even an expulsion.
In a statement, the Premier League champions claimed they are “surprised” by the Premier League’s charges.
While it could take years to conclude, the financial charges cast huge doubts over Guardiola’s future, with Betfair pricing him at odds-on to leave his post before the start of next season.
Guardiola is also third in the running to be the next managerial departure in England’s top flight, just nine months since he guided City to a fourth league title in five seasons.
