Ganduje’s corruption charge stands despite Gov Yusuf’s defection – Commissioner

‎Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, says the corruption charges against ex-governor Umar Ganduje stands despite Governor Abba Yusuf’s defection into the All Progressives Congress, APC.

‎Waiya said this on Thursday while speaking on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’, monitored by reporters.

‎Recall that Governor Yusuf resigned his membership of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, last Friday and officially joined the APC.

‎According to Waiya: “As far as the Nigerian legal system is concerned, you may be accused of a number of corruption allegations, but the most important thing is when you are pronounced guilty by the court of law.

‎“The corruption allegation is still before judicial processes. Kano is evolving, and we are bringing everyone on board. Ganduje has not been found guilty of the allegations.

‎“No court of law has ever pronounced him to be guilty of such charges or such allegations. We have learned that with the judicial process, we do not want to intervene.”
