FMWH trains staffers on health, productivity, innovation

The Federal Ministry of Works and Housing (FMWH), has organised a two-day health training for its staffers to boost their wellbeing, service delivery, productivity and innovation.

This is contained in a statement by Mrs Blessing Lere-Adams, Director, Press and Public Relations Unit of the ministry and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.

The theme of the health talk is: “Healthy Living: Panacea for Greater Productivity in the Workplace”.

According to Lere-Adams, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Bashir Alkali, said that organisations that were not investing in the well-being of their staffers could be losing top talents and skills.

Represented by the Director Human Resource Management, Mr Aliyu Abudulahi, Alkali was quoted as saying, ”a healthy workforce and a sense of wellbeing, increases productivity and innovation.

”The mindset of the officers must be positive and for that to happen, officers need to be healthy to deliver.

“If the mind and body are not together, we keep getting negative reports. A healthy workforce is a productive workforce.

“Health is utmost in our agenda, health is very important to us all.”

Alkali urged the members of staff to take care of themselves, observe all the necessary health tips and protective measures for their good and that of the general public.

During the training, five papers were presented including Overcoming Hypertension – The Silent Killer, Tackling Typhoid and Malaria and Managing Diabetes.

Other papers were: Cholesterol: What you need to know and Stress Management in the Workplace delivered.
