FG shuts down over 75 filling stations in Osun over infractions

The Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has shut down over 75 filling stations in Osun State.

On Wednesday, Mr Kunle Adeyemo, NMDPRA state Coordinator, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the agency’s activities in April.

According to him, the filling stations were shut down due to non-compliance with the agency’s regulatory standard, including operating without a valid license.

He said the agency, in the period under review, beamed searchlights on over 301 across the state and discovered many had committed several infractions.

He urged that stakeholders in the industry must operate within the ambit of regulation to avoid sanction.

“We sealed 75 filling stations operating without valid operational licences and for other infractions in the state in April. In line with the Federal Government directive, all petroleum marketers have till May 31 to get their valid licences.

“Any petroleum marketer who fails to adhere to the May 31 deadline for obtaining their valid operational licences would be severely sanctioned”, he stated.
