Eight feared dead in Borno landmine explosion

No fewer than eight persons have been reported dead with many others injured when two commercial vehicles stepped on landmines along Ngala-Dikwa road in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 10:30 am around Kinewba village in Ngala about 15 kilometers away from Maiduguri.

According the report, a security source said that the two vehicles involved in the incident were damaged beyond repairs.

“The vehicles left Ngala around 900:am while the incident occurred about 15 kilometers away. Eight civilians feared dead including two children, and several others were critically wounded in the landmines blast,” he said.

Another source, a top civilian JTF, said the two vehicles, an Izuzu van and a lorry, stepped on the bomb and nearly all the passengers feared dead.
