Eid-el-Kabir: Kebbi NUJ felicitates Muslims, urges journalists to promote peace

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Kebbi State Council, has felicitated with the Muslim Ummah, Kebbi State Governor Senator Atiku Bagudu, the Union members and the entire people of Kebbi State on this year occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.

In a statement issue to Newsmen yesterday and signed by the Council sercertary Comerade Ahmed Idris said on behalf of the Council urged Muslims to spread the act of kindness especially towards the weak and less privileged irrespective of ethnicity and religious background.

We equally expressed our profounded gratitude to the Kebbi State Governor Senator Atiku Bagudu Abubakar for supporting the journalists in the state most especially the this year Sallah Festivital.

‘Sir you have shown us love and good leader and our prayer for you is May Almighty Alhah protect you in the hands of your enemies, known and unknown, open and secret and give more wisdom in piloting the affairs of the state” he said.

He noted that this period of the Eid celebration was a clarion call to imbibe the lessons of the season such as sacrifice, selfless service to Allah and humanity as well as a sincere commitment to righteous conducts in both private and public life.

“You see the Eid-el-Kabir teaches us to be patient and prayerful and never lose hope in live. Prophet Abraham did not only pray for a righteous son, he was persistent in the prayer and had absolute trust and faith in Allah even at over eighty years of age. We must not relent in our prayer for survival and survival from whatever challenge we face as individual or state” He said.

While wishing the Muslim Ummah a fun-filled Sallah celebration, the Council who also commended members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm for their resilience in the practice of responsible journalism urging them to be steadfast despite the harsh economic challenges faced by them in the state.

He then urged journalists to remain prayerful and continue to contribute, selflessly, their quota in tackling the societal problems.

The statement also urged Muslim faithfuls to extend the spiritual benefits of Eid-el-Kabir, which are sacrifice, love, peace, and justice to their daily living and through this, contribute to the development of not only the NUJ but the state at large.
