Eguma happy with Rivers United’s performance in CAF Confederation Cup

Rivers United head coach, Stanley Eguma has admitted that valuable lessons have been learnt following the team’s ouster from the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Nigerian champions bowed out of the competition 2-0 on aggregate to Tanzanian side, Young Africans.

Nigeria will be represented by four countries in CAF club competitions next year as a result of the Port Harcourt club’s impressive performance in the competition.

Eguma lauded his team’s performance in the competition.

The tactician was also happy that their performance has helped the country retain the four slots in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.

“It’s disappointing to crash out of the competition; if we had a better game in the first leg, it would have been a different situation in the reverse fixture,” Egunma told a press conference.

“One good thing is that we were able to secure the four slots for Nigeria in the continent, because qualifying to the group phase and going beyond to the quarterfinal stage has secured Nigeria’s slots in the continent”.
