Chachavivi, partners urges government to create enabling environment for youths to develop green skills

The Chachavivi women and girl child development foundation and it’s partners has called on Government at all levels to take action by ensuring that an enabling environment is created for the youth to develop the green skills.

This call was made by Ms. Halima Oiza Sadiq, the CEO and founder of Chachavivi women and girl child development foundation, during the activities to commemorate the international youth day held on 12th August, 2023 in kogi central implemented in Osara community in Adavi LGA of Kogi state.

The also stressed the urgent need for the to youth have asses to the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund, toward empowering the young ones.

This activity was championed by Ms. Halima Oiza Sadiq , the CEO and founder of Chachavivi women and girl child development foundation, who charged the participant to take advantage of every available platform to build their green skills.

The 2023 international Youth’s day, a global event held annually, with theme: Green Skills for Youth; Towards a Sustainable World,

Chachavivi Women and Girl Child Development Foundation (CCWGDF) implemented the activity in Partnership with Afrique Solidarite Emploi Formation Creation Enterprises (ASEFCE), Benin Republic, with funding support from National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).

The group made this day a memorable one for the youths at the community in Kogi Central senatorial district in Osara community in Adavi LGA of Kogi State.

The activity as part of the culture of the Organization to commemorate global and international event annually gave the opportunity to celebrate the successes and uniqueness of youths and further enlighten them on the importance of the theme for this year 2023 which is “Green Skills for Youth; towards a sustainable World

“This year commemoration is apt and very essential as the world is experiencing a transition into a greener World it is therefore very important for the youth to develop green skills which will enable them adapt and relate with the Society and the world at large.

“We are therefore commemorating this year International Youth Day with our Sister Organization ASEFCE in BENIN republic and funding support from NIWA to reawaken youth consciousness on the need to build green skills especially in the area of Agriculture and other nature based development programmes that are sustainable in the phase of climate change and other nature related issues.

Activity and sessions during the event had power point presentation on the theme of the year, itemizing the key areas like; what is green skills, why go green, 5 things to know about green skills for youths, a plenary session on the challenges faced by youths in terms of green skills development and the way to resolving them, opportunities that exist within and action to be taken by the government to support youth actualize the green skills.

Other aspect of the programme includes: good will message from the Managing Director NIWA, Chief Dr.George N. Moghalu , goodwill message from the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals’ (SDGs), the Chairman of Adavi Local Government area and the Executive Director of the Sister Organization ASEFCE BENIN republic.

The development of green skills for youths especially females becomes very germane as the world is transiting into a greener world and it is important to know that in the year 2030 with a greener world, Youth will experience significant change in economic opportunities.

Speaking further, the CEO said “Climate change threatens 40% of all jobs that are heavily reliant on a healthy environment, adding that 8.4 million jobs will be created for young people by the green transition.

“For each green job; 1.4 million more jobs are created. Green jobs leads to more jobs. She stressed.
