Flying Eagles head coach, Ladan Bosso has remained unperturbed after his team was handed a tough draw for the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
The seven-time champions will face hosts Egypt, Mozambique and Senegal in Group A.
Egypt has won the competition four times in the past while Senegal have a huge pedigree at this level.
Mozambican football has been on the rise lately and they will no doubt be a tough nut to crack.
Bosso stated he is not afraid of coming up against the top teams on the continent.
โThe group is a normal group. Every team that qualifies for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations is hopeful of qualifying for the World Cupโ, Bosso said after the draw was made Friday.
โSo, whether we are in a tough group or not, if you want to qualify for the World Cup, you must play against the top teams at the Africa Cup of Nations.
โWe will take it step by step. We wonโt put any country first, we must respect every country in our group and weโll work towards it.
โThis team is not Bossoโs team, itโs Nigeriaโs team. So, I want everyone to pray for the team now that the draws have been made.โ
The Flying Eagles will open their campaign in the competition against Senegal at the Cairo International Stadium on Monday, February 20.
Nigeria last tasted success at U-20 AFCON in 2015.
